Volca Beats Snare Mod
Metronics has established itself as one of the leading modification workshops in the UK by developing and providing the industry standard snare mod for the Korg volca beats. The Korg volca beats is one part of the globally popular range of electronic instruments made by Korg. Our Korg volca beats snare mod adds warmth and punch to the original Korg snare drum and reshapes it to produce a more authentic analogue sound. For the Metronics Korg volca beats snare mod we have carefully selected components for snare volume level and saturation. |
History of Korg volca
The Korg volca series is a product range designed by the gifted synth creator, Tatuya Takahashi.
His product development skills are centered around a profound user-based perspective and they deliver oodles of functionality.
His distinguished vision to provide modifiable 'circuit bend points' on the circuit boards was a true innovation which has helped reshape electronic music forever.
This design approach is unique among synth designers and is no better demonstrated than in his Korg volca range.
The volcas are powerful, portable and affordable as well as insanely addictive sound tools for the dj, producer, songwriter, performer or jammer and an easy entry for relative newcomers into electronic music creation.
In 2013, the first volcas came onto the market and continue to be a huge success.
KORG VOLCA BEATS Drum Machine Synthesizer
The volca beats is a drum machine with a step sequencer for creating loops. There is also a stutter function which generates a repeated trigger for the sounds.
The drum generator circuits are entirely analogue and, in the main, produce classic analogue waveforms.
The exception being the snare sound, the snare on volca beats is glitchy and lo-fi in nature and far from the classic analogue snare we all know and love.
Our Korg volca beats snare mod will breathe new life into your drum machine - no more cranking up the CLAP sounds to compensate for the snare!
Korg volca beats circuit boards have a missing component which causes the snare to sound distorted and 'fizzy'.
Widely considered a manufacturing or design fault, Korg confirmed the circuit is 'as intended'.
Korg have continued to manufacture the volca beats with the omitted component, which would support their stance, however there is still huge demand for the Korg volca beats snare mod.
In order to sound like an authentic analog snare, a carefully selected capacitor needs to be fitted.
In our test lab facilty we perform the Korg volca beats snare mod in a controlled anti-static environment.
The second part of our volca beats snare mod is to add gain to the snare circuit.
The snare volume is also quite low as shipped by Korg, and so we increase the level to a more balanced overall sound.
Korg volca beats snare mod addresses the issue of the missing component and goes a step further to yield true-analog sounding results.
We have performed thousands of korg volca beats snare mods, since 2014.
